Days like this don’t come along often in July around the Sunflower State.

Sunshine, light north winds and highs in the upper 70s are expected Tuesday in the Wichita area, forecasters say. That’s at least 15 degrees below the normal high for this time of year.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives overnight, when lows will settle in the low 60s. Better chances for rain come on Wednesday, forecasters say, when highs will only be in the low 70s. Rainfall could be heavy at times. Winds will stay in the single digits out of the south and southeast.

Rain could persist overnight in the region, with lows dipping to the upper 50s to low 60s. A slight chance of scattered showers will linger into Thursday as well, forecasters say.
