A 39-year-old woman got a bit carried away in her Fourth of July celebrations Friday night, and it landed her in the Sedgwick County Jail, Wichita police Sgt. John Hoofer said.

While a large firework was going off around 9:25 p.m. in the parking lot of a motel in the 1100 block of North Broadway, the woman picked it up and started aiming it at other people in the parking lot, Hoofer said, in an attempt to burn them.

A 27-year-old woman, a 36-year-old woman, and a 61-year-old man all reported being fired at. The people at the party all knew each other, Hoofer said. No one was taken to the hospital.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.
