Wingnuts’ McClendon drives in seven runs in win

Chris McClendon drove in seven runs, powering the Wingnuts to a 12-2 win over the Explorers on Friday night in Sioux City, Iowa.

McClendon had five produuctive trips to the plate — he hit a three-run homer in the second, a two-run single in the third, he singled and later scored in the sixth, hit an RBI double in the seventh and drove in a run with a fielder’s choice in the ninth. He extended his hitting streak to six games.

The Wingnuts scored three runs in the third and four in the fourth to build a 7-1 lead.

Jake Kahaulelio had three hits, and Ryan Khoury hit a two-run homer in the ninth.

Wingnuts starter Jason Van Skike held the Explorers to two runs over seven innings.

The teams conclude a three-game series Saturday night. The Wingnuts start a six-game homestand on Monday.
