Bartlett Grain of Kansas City, Mo. said it will start construction this month on a large new grain elevator in Barton County, just east of Great Bend off U.S. 56 and on the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad.

The facility will hold nearly 3 million bushels and is designed to load 110 car shuttle trains. It will employ more than 10 people year round.

It is set to open in time for the 2015 wheat harvest.

This will be the company’s 10th elevator in Kansas, including one at 3311 N. Emporia in Wichita
