Bethesda, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Rose parred the first playoff hole on Sunday to defeat Shawn Stefani and win the Quicken Loans National.
Rose and Stefani each carded a 1-under 70 during their final round at Congressional Country Club to finish the tournament at 4-under-par 280.
The duo then returned to the 18th hole for the playoff, where Rose found the fairway with his tee shot after Stefani hit his tee ball into the trees.
After receiving a line-of-sight relief because of a grandstand, Stefani hit his next shot into the water to the left of the green.
Rose then stuck his second onto the green and 2-putted for the par to collect his sixth career victory on the PGA Tour.
Charley Hoffman (69) and Ben Martin (71) shared third place at 3-under, while Andres Romero (68), Brendan Steele (71) and Brendon Todd (71) shared fifth at minus-2.
With their finishes at this event, Stefani, Hoffman, Martin and Steele earned a spot in the British Open in three weeks.
Third-round leader Patrick Reed stumbled to a 6-over 77 during his final round to fall into a share of 11th place at even-par 284.
