A recent shooting has resulted in a federal firearms charge being filed Tuesday against a Wichita man who police say is a documented gang member.

Jermall Campbell, 32, was charged with one count of unlawful possession of ammunition following a felony conviction, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom.

Campbell is a documented member of a street gang, Grissom said.

Prosecutors say Wichita police responded June 14 to a shooting in the 7000 block of East Harry, where they found shell casings in the parking lot. Witnesses told police they saw Campbell carrying a gun when he tried to enter a nightclub before shooting and wrestling with a security guard.

Campbell was convicted in 2007 in a federal racketeering case and served five years and four months.
