A Bird City woman was sentenced Monday to more than 14 years in prison for second-degree murder in an incident that resulted from a domestic violence incident, according to court records.

Leeanna Gay Windell, 44, was sentenced to 176 months in prison by Cheyenne County District Judge Scott Showalter, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in a news release.

Assistant attorneys general prosecuted the case.

Windell pleaded guilty in April to intentionally killing Brad Figgins in April 2013 in the northwest Kansas county.
