A Wichita man was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the meth-injection death of Shawn Lindsey early last year.

Jason Jones, 38, is eligible for parole after 25 years on the charge of first-degree murder. He was one of multiple defendants in the case stemming from the killing of Lindsey, whose body was found near K-96 and Hillside on Jan. 16, 2013.

Authorities alleged Lindsey, 34, was bound and tortured by a group of men at a west Wichita auto shop before he was injected with a lethal dose of meth on Jan. 11, 2013.

Sedgwick County District Court Judge Bruce Brown also sentenced Jones to 165 months – or more than 13 years – in prison on a conviction of aggravated kidnapping. If Jones is paroled after 25 years, he will serve the sentence for the kidnapping conviction.

Jones’ co-defendants are in various stages of adjudication:

• Dang Sean, 33, is scheduled to go on trial Monday on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.

• Justin Jones, 38, Jason’s brother, is slated for trial on July 7. He is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.

• Phouthalaksa Phomphihak, 33, is scheduled for trial on Aug. 4 on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.

• Aaron Stricker, 28, is scheduled for trial on Aug. 18 on a charge of aggravated kidnapping.

• Anthony Garza, 30, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 21.
