A pair of early four-run innings paved the way to the Wingnuts 13-7 win over the Lemurs on Wednesday night in Laredo, Texas.

The Lemurs made three errors in the third inning, helping the Wingnuts build a lead. Wichita’s first two runs scored on an error by starting pitcher Josh Strawn, then Chris McClendon followed with his first homer as a Wingnut to make it 4-1.

Wichita made the lead 8-1 with four more runs in the fourth using four hits and a walk.

Another run in the fifth made it 9-1 before the Lemurs dented Wingnuts starter Justin Klipp for four runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 9-5. Two walks and a wild pitch heightened the problems for Klipp, who allowed more than one earned run for just the second time in seven starts this season.

The Wingnuts are off Thursday, then start a seven-game homestand Friday night when they take on Fargo at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
