Police investigating the report of a shot being fired were still at the scene when the suspect returned to the location late Sunday night, authorities said.

The officers found a handgun in plain view under the front seat of the suspect’s vehicle and he was arrested, Lt. Dan East said. A 52-year-old man told police the suspect pointed a gun at him in the 1400 block of North Oliver, across from the QuikTrip, at about 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The 52-year-old turned to walk away from the confrontation when he heard a gunshot, East said. The suspect drove away in a late 1990s tan four-door Lincoln Town Car, then returned to the scene later.

The man was not injured in the incident.
