Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to a 2-year-old girl suffering a skull fracture on Sunday, police said.

The girl was brought to Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph following what was described as an accidental fall early Sunday evening at a home in the 1000 block of South Terrace, near Lincoln, according to a police document. That’s a few blocks east of the hospital.

The child was then transferred via ambulance to Via Christi St. Francis and placed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, according to the police document. The Exploited and Missing Child Unit has taken over the investigation.

No arrests have been made in the case.
