It’ll be such a beautiful day in the Wichita area that even folks who would rather stay under the covers on Friday the 13th will be tempted to venture outside.

Sunny skies, light winds and highs in the low 80s are expected, forecasters say. The winds will be variable, gusting to about 20 miles an hour at times.

Lows tonight will be in the mid-60s under partly cloudy skies, and the weekend offers a fresh round of thunderstorms with highs in the 80s. Strong, gusty winds on a sunny day Saturday will signal the arrival of the next change of rain, forecasters say. Gusts could top 40 miles an hour.
