The reigning Miss Greater Wichita has received this years Miss Kansas crown.
Amanda Sasek, 23, was crowned Saturday night during the pageants final night of competition, held at Pratt Community College in Pratt, said Lauren Werhan, communications manager for the pageant. Last years titleholder, Theresa Vail, an Army National Guard sergeant who was voted the Peoples Choice in the 2014 Miss America pageant, bestowed the honor.
Sasek is originally from Moberly, Mo., and is a graduate student at the University of Kansas, Werhan said.
She will advance to the 2015 Miss America Pageant, scheduled for Sept. 13 in Atlantic City.
The energy in the entire building was phenomenal, Werhan said of Saturdays competition. Thirty-one women competed.
Great show, great productions numbers. And we were able to crown a wonderful girl who will hopefully have a wonderful year, she said.
