Summit Clinic and South Central Kansas Medical Center in Arkansas City are merging to create a new medical practice called South Central Kansas Clinic, according to a news release.

The merger is part of an effort for the medical center to transition toward hospital-employed physicians. Hospital officials say they hope that having hospital-employed physicians will make the community more attractive when officials recruit health care providers.

The new practice will include internist Kamran Shahzada, family practitioner Rhonda Green, family practitioner Eric Thomson and advanced practice registered nurse Angela Ziegler.

The clinic will continue to operate at its current location, 515 N. Summit in Arkansas City.
