Wichita State will hold MVC baseball, softball tournaments

The Missouri Valley Conference baseball and softball tournaments will return to Wichita State’s campus in 2015, according to a news release.

Commissioner Doug Elgin recommended championship sites for 2014-15, subject to approval by the MVC presidents at the June 6 meeting.

WSU’s Wilkins Stadium will host the softball tournament May 7-9, its first visit to Wichita since 2005.

The baseball tournament returns to Eck Stadium for the first time since 2010 and runs May 19-23. Eck Stadium hosted the tournament 25 times since 1978, most recently from 2008-2010.

MVC men’s basketball will remain at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis and the women’s tournament stays in St. Charles, Mo. Northern Iowa will play host to the volleyball tournament Nov. 27-29.

Other sites: Women’s tennis, Drake (Oct. 3-5); men’s tennis, Drake (Oct. 31-Nov. 2); cross country, Southern Illinois (Nov. 1); indoor track and field, Northern Iowa (Feb. 28-March 1); women’s golf, Burlington, Iowa (April 19-21); team tennis, Evansville (April 24-26); men’s golf, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. (April 27-28); outdoor track and field, Missouri State (May 15-17).
