A Wichita man is in serious condition at the hospital with a head wound after an argument in the 1200 block of North Broadway around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was talking with a friend when a man, 38, approached, demanding money for services rendered, according to a Wichita police report.

The victim denied the services were provided, and after an argument the 38-year-old hit him on his left cheek with a rock wrapped up in a bandana.

The victim sustained a 4- to 5-inch cut and was taken to Via Christi St. Francis, where he remains in serious condition, Wichita police Lt. Dan East said Wednesday.

The suspect was located and arrested under suspicion of aggravated battery at the Auto Motel, 1230 N. Broadway, a few hours later.
