The Mississippi Senate race’s ad war between Sen. Thad Cochran and challenger Chris McDaniel got uglier Tuesday.

They traded ads that involve the incident involving Cochran’s bedridden wife, Rose. She was photographed in a nursing home by a blogger who supports McDaniel. Clayton Kelly has been arrested and now faces felony charges.

Cochran struck first with his ad.

“It's the worst: Chris McDaniel's supporter charged with a felony for posting video of Sen. Thad Cochran's wife in a nursing home? Had enough?” it asks.

Tuesday, McDaniel fought back, releasing his own ad: “Newspapers called them shameless,” he said of Cochran’s attacks. “I call them outrageous.”

The primary is June 3.
