A fight between two ex-roommates landed one in the hospital and the other in jail Monday night, police said.

The two men had an argument that escalated at about 10 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of West Orient, Lt. Dan East said. That’s southwest of Seneca and McCormick in southwest Wichita.

The older of the two, a 42-year-old man, was cut on the neck with an unknown sharp object and suffered a 2-inch cut, East said. He was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in serious condition.

A 38-year-old man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated battery in a domestic violence situation, East said. Police are still sorting out what prompted the dispute.
