A 18-year-old man says he escaped an attack with only severed shorts early Sunday in the 1300 block of South Bleckley, near Harry and Oliver, police said.

Wichita police Sgt. John Ryan said the man told officers he was approached by four male suspects armed with knives, a .22-caliber revolver and a 2-foot-long crowbar as he was walking home alone after a party at about 1:35 a.m. One of the men reportedly swung an 8-inch, fixed-blade knife at the man, cutting his shorts, Ryan said.

The 18-year-old then ran and hid until the four left, he said. He was not hurt.

No one has been arrested in the case, Ryan said Sunday afternoon. The suspects are reportedly 17, 19, 25 and 30.
