Rain-barrel orders

Wichita Clean Streams, a group working to improve the water quality of the Arkansas River, will be taking orders online and at the Wichita River Festival for discounted $80 rain barrels. Barrel pick-up will be 8 a.m. to noon June 14 at Beechcraft during the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day & Voluntary Vehicle Emissions Testing.

Orders can be placed online at www.WichitaCleanStreams.org or during the festival in Ackerman’s Backyard in A. Price Woodward Park, between Century II and the river.

Barrels must be picked up at Beechcraft’s Parking Lot E, Gate C6, which is at 10059 E. Central, half a mile east of Webb Road on Central.

Succulent table settings

Pottery Barn put together table settings at a recent show with succulents, and it’s totally doable. Succulent rosettes, which are easy to pinch off their plants, can be washed, used and replanted afterward.

Putting them back into the garden is easy. Just be sure the root end is in contact with the soil. Succulents will root again in four to six weeks.

Larger agaves also can be used to dress up large spaces. Again, after a few days or when the party is over, put the severed end into the soil. Keep them moist, and they’ll grab and begin to grow again in weeks.
