Man shot in hand while walking on Volutsia

A 21-year-old man was wounded in a shooting incident shortly after noon Tuesday in Wichita, police said.

The victim told police he was walking south on Volutsia from 12th Street when he heard six or seven shots and then felt pain in his left hand, Lt. Dan East said. He walked to Wesley Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound.

He was then released, a police document said.
