Parched wheat crop continues to deteriorate

Last week’s heat and wind hurt the parched winter wheat crop, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s weekly report

The state’s wheat crop, as of the weekend, was rated 23 percent very poor, 33 percent poor, 31 percent fair, 12 percent good and 1 percent excellent.

The alfalfa hay condition was 8 percent very poor, 23 percent poor, 43 percent fair, 25 percent good, and 1 percent excellent.

Pasture and range conditions also showed some deterioration, as did water supplies for livestock.
