Lawrence police have a suspect in custody after a 26-year-old man died in a shooting about 6 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex near 13th and Haskell Avenue.

Police say the victim was taken by family members to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he died. His name was not immediately released.

Officers investigating the shooting were provided a description of the individual who had been involved in the dispute and the vehicle the person was driving. Within a few minutes.

Soon after the shooting, a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle that matched a description of the suspect’s near the East Hills Business Park and took the suspect into custody.
