Via Christi is closing its Augusta clinic at 120 West Josephine in Augusta on June 27, according to a news release.

The reason behind the closure is that the clinic has operated below capacity for several years and would need significant renovations, said Jack Shellito, Via Christi Clinic chief clinical officer, in the release.

The two physicians at the clinic will move to other clinics within Via Christi.

Family practitioner Tara Katz will see patients at the clinic at 612 N. Andover Road starting June 30.

Family practitioner Sara Purdy will begin work at the clinic at 990 S. George Washington Blvd. on June 16.

According to the release, other staff will find job placements within the system.
