A visit to a woman’s house in south Wichita took a dark turn for a couple of people late Thursday afternoon, police said.

Wichita police Capt. Brent Allred said a 47-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman drove to a house in the 2600 block of South Vassar, which is in the Planeview neighborhood, southeast of Pawnee and Hillside.

The woman they went to see wasn’t at the house, Allred said, but they decided to wait for her inside the house. A man came out of a bedroom and pointed a sawed-off shotgun at the male visitor, demanding money.

The woman who came to the house tried to run out the door, but she was grabbed by a second man and pulled back into the living room, Allred said. The armed man took an undisclosed amount of money from the male visitor.
