Any showers or thunderstorms lingering in the Wichita area early Friday morning should clear off by the time the work day gathers steam, forecasters say, making way for a pleasant spring day in the region.

Highs are expected to top out in the mid-70s, with gusty northerly winds easing to single digits by afternoon. Skies should be mostly clear overnight, when lows settle in the mid-50s, and Saturday should be another pleasant day with highs in the low 80s under partly cloudy skies.

Chances for showers increase later in the day and overnight into Sunday, forecasters say. Highs on Mother’s Day will reach the low 80s.
