An iris show, a rose expo and a daylily sale will be part of the festivities when attendance is free for mothers Sunday at Botanica.

The gardens will be open longer than usual for a Sunday – from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m – on Mother’s Day. Admission for mothers and members is free, and nonmembers pay $5.

A pairing of a mimosa and chocolate will be available for $5, and tea will be served on the Terrace from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can decorate a silk scarf for $10.

Three garden clubs will have events:

• The Wichita Area Iris Club will have its annual iris show featuring tall bearded iris and other iris that are blooming now. It will be open once judging is completed (about noon) until 5 p.m.

• The Prairie Winds Daylily Society will have its daylily sale, which will feature daylilies grown in members’ gardens. There will be a large selection of varieties and colors in bareroot form starting at $3.

• The Wichita Rose Society will have a Rose Expo featuring a display of blooms from various roses and arrangements made with roses as well as roses for sale. Consulting rosarians will be on hand to answer questions about roses.
