As a fundraiser for Child Start, Mike Everhart, one of the people responsible for getting two state fossils listed as symbols, is offering a paleontologist-for-a-day experience in the organization’s Dream Jobs Auction.

Child Start is a non-profit organization that provides early childhood development services. The fundraiser is part of Child Start’s annual dinner and Children’s Champion awards which begins at 7 p.m. May 16 at Exploration Place.

Other dream jobs to be auctioned off include farmer, bass angler, wine specialist, music theater producer, butcher, women’s volleyball coach, pit master, 3-D animator, master chocolatier and golf pro.

Everhart is adjunct curator of vertebrate paleontology at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays. He will be offering the highest bidder a choice between doing field work in the Smoky Hill Chalk where fossils are often found or a behind-the-scenes tour of the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.

Tickets to the gala are $75. Reservations can be made by going to www.childstart.org
