Sedgwick County Zoo to celebrate penguins, Cinco de Mayo this weekend

Penguins will be on parade Saturday as the Sedgwick County Zoo celebrates World Penguin Day.

Special activities and chats with zookeepers of the penguins will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cessna Penguin Cove.

Zookeeper chats will take place at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

The zoo also will celebrate Cinco de Mayo from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday with live music, authentic Mexican food and exhibitors.

Bands scheduled to perform are DJ Tinny Morales, Mystic Musical, Los b-ok, Oscar Padilla and Innovation. Food vendors will include Happy Corn, Tacos Nuñez, El Pollo Dorado, Lalos Express, Tacos De Mary Hutchinson and Los Compadres.

Regular admission applies at both events. Members get in free with a membership card and photo ID.
