Kansas City police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her Northland apartment Wednesday morning.

Police were called just before 7 a.m. to the apartment complex in the 7900 block of North Hickory, just west of Barry Road and U.S. 169. Witnesses had reported seeing a naked man covered in blood running around the apartment complex, police said.

When police arrived, the man was gone. They found the woman’s body inside an apartment.

A short time later, officers arrested a man who had gotten into a wreck at Missouri 152 and Interstate 435. He fit the description of the man seen at the apartment, police said.

No further details, including cause of death or a possible motive, were released. Police said the complex is known for generating its share of calls to police.
