A Wichita police officer who pulled a driver over for a traffic infraction early Monday morning came across something unexpected when he looked inside the car: two handguns sitting on the front seat.

As he was arresting the driver for illegal possession of a weapon at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, another man walked up in the area of 13th and Volutsia and said the driver had just robbed his younger brother of a handgun a short distance away, Lt. Dan East said.

The 19-year-old victim was robbed at 2712 E. 13th St., not far from where the suspect was taken into custody, police records indicated. The officer also found marijuana in the suspect’s possession, East said.
