The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has collected 590 pounds of expired or unused medications, the office said Monday.

Sheriff’s personnel supervised three drop-off sites Saturday as part of the National Take Back initiative, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration and involving the Sheriff’s Office, the office said in a statement.

The event gives people a safe way to dispose of expired or unused medications, the office said.
