2014 Shocker New Venture Competition

Wichita state student teams compete for cash prizes for the best new business venture idea at Koch Arena Friday. Winners advance to next week's final at Devlin Hall room 107, where the winners could earn over $10,000. It is open to the public. (Video by Fernando Salazar)

About 150 Wichita businesspeople registered as judges for the Shocker New Venture Competition Trade Show, with 20 student teams exhibiting to explain their business concepts. The judges act as investors in the competition, and are 10,000 “Shocker Dollars” to invest in the student business teams they think have the best chance at successfully launching their product or service. The eight teams receiving the highest amount of Shocker dollars will move on to a semi-final round, and four of them will move on to the final round. That competition will be held May 2 in Devlin Hall on the Wichita State University campus.
