Prosecutors on Wednesday charged a 42-year-old Wichita man with possession of child pornography.

John R. Ricke is facing one count of sexual exploitation of a child. A complaint filed in the case accuses him of having a sexually explicit depiction of a minor in his possession sometime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. He made his first court appearance on the charge Wednesday morning, records show.

Ricke’s charge stems from a report phoned in to Wichita police on Nov. 1. According to a police document, the caller said “she saw child pornography on a computer belonging to” the suspect in the case.

Ricke is due back in Sedgwick County District Court for a preliminary hearing May 7. He is free on bond, district court records showed Wednesday afternoon.
