— President Barack Obama and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe were dining Thursday night at one of the city’s top sushi restaurants, Sukiyabashi Jiro.

The restaurant’s sushi master, Jiro Ono, who turns 90 next year, was memorably profiled in the 2011 documentary, " Jiro Dreams of Sushi" by David Gelb.

Obama, who landed in Tokyo just before 7 p.m. local time on the first stop of a four-nation, week long trip, arrived at the restaurant about 90 minutes later, along with U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy and national security adviser Susan Rice.

Obama, wearing a black suit, shook hands with Abe, who sported a gray suit. Neither men wore ties.
