Wichita-area YMCAs to host free water safety day

The Greater Wichita YMCA is hosting its second annual Water Wise Safety Day for children on April 26.

The drop-in event, designed for ages 6 or older, is free and open to the public at all Wichita, Andover and El Dorado YMCA locations. It runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Children 10 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. A membership to the YMCA is not required to attend.

Activities include water safety skills stations, life jacket safety training and testing of swimming skills. Participants are encouraged to bring a towel and a swimming suit.

Wichita branch locations are:

• Downtown YMCA, 402 N. Market

• East YMCA, 9333 E. Douglas

• North YMCA, 3330 N. Woodlawn

• Northwest YMCA, 13838 W. 21st St. North

• South YMCA, 3405 S. Meridian

• West YMCA, 6940 Newell

The Andover YMCA is at 1115 E. U.S. 54 in Andover. The El Dorado YMCA is at 300 N. Main in El Dorado.
