Opinion Line Extra (April 18)

  • Published Friday, April 18, 2014, at 12 a.m.

Joe Biden has been there, done that, and is underrated for his compromising abilities. He is not known as a standout politician but as the working policymaker of our time.

Biden told the surviving Boston Marathon bombing victims “it was worth it” when they were blown up, maimed and scarred. Does anyone with any intelligence need any more proof the Democratic Party is a terminal cancer to this country?

Rumor is the 2016 election will feature Hillary Clinton for the Democrats and Jeb Bush for the Republicans. Oh, please – no more relatives, either blood or by marriage.

It amazes me how many people think the government can just hand out “free” services without any repercussions on the taxpayer.

Since the very beginning of the overhaul of health care, Americans have been overwhelmingly against the Affordable Care Act and told Congress “no.” The elephants listened and the jackasses didn’t.

So schools shouldn’t have the right fire bad teachers? Unions like to protect bad, unproductive workers. If you’re a good worker or good teacher, you will have a job. If you’re lazy and show no signs of improvement, you won’t.

Doesn’t the governor realize there are 448,000 reliably voting citizens receiving the Medicare they were promised by paying for it in advance for decades? Paul Davis, here I come. Sam Brownback and Susan Wagle, out you go. Maybe Charles Koch will hire you.

We are retired Kansas citizens, registered Republicans, taxpayers and recipients of Medicare. House Bill 2553 is a politically motivated scheme and unconscionable if signed into law. We will vote Democrat in the next election if Brownback does not negate this bill.

Here we go again. November can’t come soon enough. Get these bought-and-paid-for activists out of Topeka. You do not represent me and haven’t for a long time.

April 12 was a great day for Opinion page commentary. Thanks to columnist Charles Krauthammer and letter writer Marc Winterburg for their sound thoughts about the left’s intolerance for opposing views.

I would bet that not one person was aided by Channel 12’s constant weather messages on the screen during the Masters golf tournament, but I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that a few viewers suffered heart attacks because of the aggravation.

One of the first things you learn as a shooter is to know what’s behind what you’re shooting at. Oscar Pistorius either is a real idiot and never should have picked up a gun, or he’s a murderer and knew what he was doing.

Thank you to the irresponsible individual who was too lazy to put the shopping cart in the proper area at the east-side Menards. Now I have $800 damage to my car, which I parked away from others to avoid a cart bashing on the windy day.
