State’s unemployment rate sticks at 4.9 percent for March

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Kansas in March was 4.9 percent, the same as in February and down from 5.5 percent in March 2013, according to the Kansas Department of Labor.

The number of Kansans working was up 2,500 from February, with the biggest growth coming in the construction industry.

In the Wichita metro area, the number of jobs rose in March by 1,300 from February. The sector growing the most, construction, added about 800 jobs.
