Crime Stoppers has paid a $2,500 reward for the tip that led to an arrest in the murder of Daniel Flores in February.

Flores, 25, was found in the basement of Steckline Communications, where he worked, on the morning of Feb. 10. Police reported that he had died as a result of severe blunt-force trauma.

The Crime Stoppers tip that solved the case was phoned in at 11:33 a.m. on Feb. 12, said Gordon Bassham, executive director of the Wichita Crime Commission. An arrest was made less than 12 hours later.

Antwan D. Banks Sr. has been charged with first-degree murder in the case. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 24.

The Flores homicide is the fifth major case solved by Crime Stoppers in the past 12 months, Bassham said. Others included the Jordan Turner homicide on May 1, the robbery of Danielle Zimmerman on Dec. 29; and the hit-and-run fatalities of Lloyd Ferguson on July 5 and Maria Martinez on Oct. 27, he said.

Tips to Crime Stoppers may be called in to its 24-hour tip line, 316-267-2111; by cell phone text messages to CRIMES, (274637) and beginning the message with TIP217; or online at www.WichitaCrimeStoppers.com. All methods are anonymous and do not ask the tipster’s name.
