This is the meeting weve all been waiting for, isnt it? George Brett finally met Lorde in Las Vegas, according to TMZ.
A vintage photo of Brett, we all know now, inspired the title of the singers monster hit, Royals.
Last year she told VH1 that she saw a photo in National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs. He was a baseball player and his shirt said, Royals. It was just that word. Its really cool.
Turned out that dude signing baseballs, in a photo published in July 1976, was Kansas Citys Hall of Fame third baseman.
When the New Zealand teen came to perform in Kansas City in March, her mother, Sonja Yelich, explained to the Kansas City Star how her daughter came across the 37-year-old photo of Brett: Lorde used to collect vintage National Geographics.
TMZ reports that Lordes people contacted Brett and asked if he would like to hang out with her in Las Vegas before her concert.
Brett told TMZ that hes been invited to meet her in the past but scheduling conflicts got in the way before now.
He couldnt attend her Kansas City concert but did send her a nifty gift instead: An autographed jersey.
Along with his signature he wrote, Lorde, you are Royal to me."
She called it one of the coolest things she owns.
