A Topeka man and his daughter were killed Friday when their car was hit head-on by a truck in Ottawa County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

Emma Jo Pisocki, 18, and Jason D. Pisocki, 41, were eastbound on K-18 in a 1998 Plymouth Neon when they encountered the 2014 Chevy Silverado about 3 1/2 miles east of Bennington. KHP said in a crash report that the truck’s driver had “moved from the westbound to the eastbound lane of traffic,” apparently to maneuver around another vehicle parked partially in the westbound lane, when it struck the Pisockis’ car at 4 p.m.

Emma Jo Pisocki was driving the Neon, KHP said. Jason D. Pisocki was her passenger. Both died at the scene. The pair are father and daughter, according to an Associated Press report.

The 35-year-old Bennington man driving the Silverado was taken to a Salina hospital for treatment, KHP said.

Bennington is about 100 miles north of Wichita, on Kansas Highway 81.
