A man lost several teeth and required stitches for a cut lip after he was hit in the mouth by a piece of brick thrown by a teenager in southeast Wichita early Friday morning, police said.

The 49-year-old victim told officers the brick was thrown by a 14-year-old boy he knows, Wichita police Lt. Dan East said. The incident occurred shortly after midnight in the 700 block of South Pinecrest. That’s south of Kellogg between Oliver and Edgemoor.

The teen ran from the area before officers arrived and has not been located, East said. The victim was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph for treatment.
