Police are investigating a shooting at a southeast Wichita apartment complex early Friday morning.

Officers were called to Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph at about 1:15 a.m. on Friday after a 19-year-old man came in with gunshot wounds to his face and shoulder, Wichita police Lt. Dan East said. The victim told them he and a friend had pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 6600 block of East Harry when someone fired a shotgun blast through the back window of the car.

Birdshot struck the victim on the left side of his face and his right shoulder, a police document reported. He was treated and released from the hospital.

The 17-year-old boy who dropped the victim off at the hospital left before officers arrived, East said.

Investigators are still looking for the car hit by the shotgun blast, East said. Investigators do not have any details about suspects in the case.

Police would like anyone with knowledge of the car or the suspects to call 316-268-4191 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, East said.
