An armed man in a purple hooded sweatshirt robbed a southeast Wichita convenience store Thursday night.

The robber entered the Presto at Oliver and Mount Vernon shortly before 9 p.m. and pointed a gun at the 22-year-old clerk, demanding cash from the register, Lt. Dan East said.

He was given a small amount of money and then left the store and walked west, the clerk told police. The suspect is a black man in his 20s, he said.

The man is about 5-feet-10 and 145 pounds. He wore a purple hooded sweatshirt, white shorts, white shoes and large sunglasses. He was also carrying a black backpack, the clerk told police.

Police would like anyone with information about the suspect to call investigators at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, East said.
