A new medical clinic is planned for Halstead, according to a news release.

The clinic, which is scheduled to open in late summer or early fall, is being developed by Newton Medical Center, Health Ministries Clinic of Newton and Diane Steeves, an advanced practice registered nurse.

The tentative plan is for the primary care clinic to be at Steeve’s current practice at 126 Main St. The developers are considering additional construction at the site.

The clinic will be operated by Health Ministries. Steeves and a Newton Medical physician will provide care.

Newton Medical Center has been opening up clinics in the area in recent years. It opened a clinic in Sedgwick last year. In December, it announced a new clinic in Hillsboro. It also operates clinics in Park City and Valley Center.

Halstead’s hospital closed in 2002 and the Hertzler Clinic closed shortly after.
