Jayhawks take series from K-State

Kansas defeated Kansas State 2-1 on Sunday in Manhattan, bouncing back from a blowout loss on Friday to take the series from the Wildcats by winning the final two games.

Kansas senior pitcher Frank Duncan picked up the complete-game victory, throwing 128 pitches and allowing one run off seven hits and striking out three, including K-State catcher Blair DeBord to end the game.

Kansas shortstop Justin Protacio led the way at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a run. Kansas centerfielder Tucker Tharp hit a solo home run off K-State starter Nate Griep in the second inning for a 1-0 lead.

The win improved Kansas to 21-11, 5-4 in Big 12 play. Defending Big 12 champion K-State dropped to 18-13, 2-4.
