Woman hospitalized after apparent beating near Pawnee, West streets

A woman in her 80s was hospitalized Thursday after suffering injuries in an apparent beating near Pawnee and West Street in Wichita.

A Sedgwick County dispatcher said emergency personnel took the woman by ambulance to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis. She was in critical condition at the time of transport, he said.

The beating was reported shortly before 7:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of South West Street, the dispatcher said. Further details were not immediately available.
