Chiefs announce their offseason training schedule

The Chiefs have released their offseason training schedule.

They will begin working out on April 21, while rookie minicamp will be held May 24-26. Organized team activities begin on May 27 with the team’s mandatory minicamp June 17-19.

All practice sessions are closed to the general public.

Here is the entire schedule, plus a little description of what each means:

First day: April 21

For the first two weeks of offseason training, players can only lift weights, condition and rehab injuries. Only strength and conditioning coaches can be present. No one with coaching responsibilities is allowed to be present, and players cannot wear helmets.

NFL Draft: May 8-10

You already know what this is.

Rookie minicamp: May 24-26

Coaches are allowed on the field, and players may receive instruction during drills. However, there is no live contact and offense vs. defense drills are not permitted. Players cannot wear helmets.

OTAs (organized team activities): May 27-29, June 3-5, June 10-13

Mandatory minicamp: June 17-19

There’s still no live contact, but special-teams drills and team offense vs. defense drills are permitted, One-on-one offense vs. defense drills are still not permitted. Players are allowed to wear helmets but not shells.
