Meritrust Credit Union will build a new branch in north Wichita to replace an existing one.

The new branch will be near Meridian and K-96, in the Lakeside at the Moorings development, according to a news release from the credit union.

Construction on the branch is expected to begin in late May. Meritrust said that it will consolidate its Twin Lakes branch at 1730 W. 21st North into the new branch shortly after construction is complete. The new branch is expected to open in the fall.

The new branch will be on land acquired from CBB North Lakes LLC, and held in trust by the Bachman family.

The land deal was brokered by Kris Wessel of NAI Martens and Marlin Penner of John T. Arnold Associates Commercial Development Real Estate.

Meritrust, which has $924 million in assets, operates 11 branches in the Wichita area, two in Lawrence and one in Junction City. It also has a branch under construction in Manhattan.
