Wichita police say a man who was struck by a train Sunday committed suicide.

On Monday, police Lt. Dan East gave this account: About 7 a.m. Sunday a railroad employee reported that a man was standing on the tracks at a crossing near K-15 and Harry. The man didn’t move, and the train hit him. The man, 45, was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital, where he later died.

Police wouldn’t release the man’s name because it is a suicide. No more information, including his hometown, was available.
